Throwback Thursday: Joan Baez

Joan Baez, often credited for bringing Bob Dylan to the folk scene, is quite the folk star herself. She went from coffee shops to the Newport Folk Festival, stood up for what she believed in and spoke (and sang) her mind. I admire her style, too. It’s effortless and chic, even decades later. This photo was the cover art for her album Songbird. Just a woman on the beach with her guitar in skinny jeans and a cozy sweater. Naturally beautiful.

Her cover of The Band’s song The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down haunts my soul. It’s beautiful. Tidbit of trivia: The Band toured and recorded 10 albums with Dylan. Just another reason I love music (and fashion for that matter) it’s all connected. Everything comes full circle.
